How to use
- Choose a PDF.
- Start with Preserve text; use balanced or high compression only if the file remains too large.
- Compare the output size, review clarity, and download.
Privacy
Input and files are processed in the current browser tab. Mingmist does not receive the content unless you independently share the result elsewhere.
Limitations
A browser cannot provide every optimization available in Ghostscript, qpdf, or professional desktop software. Raster modes trade document structure and searchability for size.
FAQ
Which mode preserves searchable text?
Preserve text | structural repack does not rasterize pages and generally keeps text, vectors, links, and forms.
Why might text-preserving mode save little space?
Some PDFs are already optimized. Repacking can remove structural overhead but cannot recompress every embedded image.
What is the cost of balanced or high compression?
Pages become JPEG images, so searchable text, links, forms, and some accessibility information are removed.
